Introduction

The small-diameter straight seam submerged arc welded pipe mill is to open and flatten the steel plate with a certain width after slitting, then enter the forming machine, adopt full-automatic accurate control and flexible forming, bend the steel plate into a round pipe by using rollers, pre-weld the steel pipe by gas shielded welding, then cut off, submerged arc weld the inner and outer welds of the steel pipe offline, and then obtain qualified submerged arc welded pipes after hydrostatic test, flat chamfering, weld seam and pipe body inspection. Quick roller change technology is adopted in the sizing part of the mill, which greatly saves the time of specification change.


Small-diameter straight seam submerged arc welded pipe mill is divided into API models and standard models according to product applications.


API model is used to produce high-grade steel pipes such as oil and natural gas transmission pipes and oil well casing, which has strict requirements on product materials and quality. The mill is equipped with inspection equipment and process equipment such as X optical flaw detection, ultrasonic detection, hydrostatic expanding and water pressure testing machine, and pipe end expanding machine.


Standard models are used to produce the steel pipes such as low-pressure fluid pipes and structural pipes.


Small-diameter straight seam submerged arc welded pipe mill has obvious advantages. It overcomes the disadvantages of ERW welded pipe, such as unsuitable control of weld quality, inferior weld quality to submerged arc welded and high energy consumption, overcomes the disadvantages of spiral welded pipe, such as long weld length and unsuitable detection of spiral weld buried, and overcomes the disadvantages of UOE and JCOE, such as huge investment and high production cost. The weld quality of straight seam submerged arc welded pipe is better and more reliable in all welding processes. When buried, the weld can be raised, which is easy to detect, maintain and repair. The specifications of steel pipes produced by the mill just cover most of the specifications used in the current oil and gas pipelines, which has a good market prospect. The designed annual production capacity of the mill is 50,000-100,000 tons.


It can be stated that if there is not much difference between the price of straight seam submerged arc welded pipe and the cost of spiral welded pipe, no one is willing to use spiral welded pipe on high-grade pipeline, and straight seam submerged arc welded pipe will replace spiral welded pipe on high-grade pipeline, with a very good market prospect.


Small-diameter straight seam submerged arc welded pipe mill can be used as a supplementary mill of JCOE, because it is difficult and uneconomical to produce steel pipes below Φ711 with UOE and JCOE mills. Small-diameter straight seam submerged arc welded pipe mill has obvious advantages of low production cost and high output. It can make up for the serious lack of competitiveness caused by low production capacity and high price in the field of medium- and small-diameter of JCOE.
